What Can I Do To Take Back Control?
There are several techniques you can use to help control the powerlessness of a Migraine. Awareness is the first step.
Hydration
During a migraine episode you just want to sleep in the hope that the pain will just stop. Everything beyond that is frustrating and just makes the pain worse. It's vital to you and to the symptoms of a migraine that you stay well hydrated. Drink as much water as you can when you are awake.
Breathing
Studies show that when we experience pain we tend to hold our breath. This actually makes the pain worse and begins to deplete our body of much needed oxygen. A simple technique to do all time and most especially when in pain is to breathe in as deeply as possible through the nose and then exhale through the mouth.
Journaling
Keeping track of what happened before, during, and after a migraine can be an incredible tool to help you begin to recognize what your personal triggers are.
